Grow your dental practice with a Mini-MBA specially for you

It’s the one thing they don’t teach in dental school: how to run a successful dental practice.

Becoming a successful dentist starts, of course, with clinical education but after that, dentists must become entrepreneurs starting their own business and for most, it’s a completely different skill set.

The new Schulich Mini-MBA: Dentist Business Leadership Program – the only one of its kind in Canada – is designed to give dentists of any experience, the knowledge they need to grow a successful business – from the sole practitioner’s office to a multi-clinic business with many employees.

In 18 conveniently scheduled workshops held over 6 months, this Mini-MBA program will delve into important business topics such as strategic management, marketing, finance and human resources, preparing dentists to become more effective managers in their organization and beyond. The instructors include award-winning faculty members from the Schulich School of Business at York University, and group and one-one-one coaching. The program is also eligible for Continuing Education credits for dentists in Ontario and Manitoba.

In this audio interview, Dr. Michael Glogauer discusses the essential topics this program will cover and how it can reduce the stress of running a business allowing participants to concentrate on delivering the best patient care possible. One component of the program looks at technological advances in running a dental practice and knowing when to invest in them to bring added value to your dental business.

Michael Glogauer is a dental entrepreneur, clinician and scientist. In addition to holding patents for health devices, he has been an active member of scientific boards of start-up companies. He is a professor in the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto, Head of Dentistry for the University Health Network and Chief of Dental Oncology at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. He has received awards in recognition of his research excellence (more than 200 peer-reviewed publications) and is a Fellow in the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.
