Pride Month commemorates the Stonewall riots of June 1969, a pivotal moment in the fight for 2SLGBTQI+ rights. What began as a courageous act of resistance has grown into a global movement of celebration, activism, and solidarity. It is also a vital reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by the 2SLGBTQI+ communities around the world.
We are proud to live and work in a multicultural country, and Schulich ExecEd is based in Toronto, one of the most diverse cities in the world. The organizations we support and partner with reflect that diversity across all dimensions, including sexual orientation, gender, ethnicity, disability, and age. Many of these organizations are leading the way in developing and enacting meaningful equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) policies that reflect Canadian values at their core.
As a leading provider of leadership development and training, we integrate EDI deeply into our programs. We emphasize that EDI is not just about promoting tolerance of difference, but that there is a business logic to EDI in building a productive and resilient workforce achieved by implementable policies that unlock the full potential of individuals and organizations alike.
In 2025, Pride Month arrives at a time when some organizations are facing heightened, politically charged pressures to roll back EDI initiatives. In this climate, it’s more important than ever to reaffirm our commitment. Rather than focusing solely on celebration of how far the 2SLGBTQI+ community has come in terms of acceptance, support and rights, this Pride Month calls us to stand firmly for the Canadian core values that underpin our ongoing support for inclusion and greater acceptance.
At Schulich ExecEd, we remain steadfast in our belief that EDI is not only effective — it’s essential. This month, and every month, we reaffirm our commitment to building a society where everyone who faces societal barriers, including members of the 2SLGBTQI+ community, feels empowered to show up fully and authentically in life, in work, and in leadership.
Happy Pride Month.
