Risk Management

Rob Quail holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto. Rob is a widely respected author, facilitator and lecturer on Enterprise Risk Management. He has participated as a lecturer in the program since 2011. Rob established the pioneering Enterprise Risk Management processes, tools and methodologies at Hydro One Networks Inc. that are today widely regarded as best-practice. The practices developed by Rob in collaboration with the management team at Hydro One became the subject of many studies and papers, including a major “leading practice” case study by Harvard Business School. While at Hydro One, Rob also held key leadership roles in the areas of technology transformation and outsourcing. Later, Rob was appointed Vice President of Customer Service at Hydro One in the wake of a difficult billing system implementation, and during this time he applied Enterprise Risk Management principles to lead dramatic improvements in all areas of customer service, including call centre operations, billing, electricity conservation, and collections. Today, Rob provides independent consulting services in enterprise risk management, business process and technology outsourcing, and customer care to clients in a variety of industry sectors. Rob is a contributing author to both of the Wiley textbooks used in the program: Enterprise Risk Management: Today’s Leading Research and Best Practices for Tomorrow’s Executives,” and “Implementing Enterprise Risk Management.”

Public Sector

Robert is Chief Executive Officer for the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC), where he has led numerous innovation projects across Canada and globally. Previously, Robert was Assistant Deputy Minister with Ontario's Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing where he was responsible for delivering key government priorities to over 400 municipalities across the Province. In addition, he was the Assistant Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Research and Innovation and led the launch of the Province's first Innovation Strategy.

Rod is the lead instructor for Schulich School of Business’s Master Certificate in Lean Six Sigma Black Belt program. Having instructed and coached thousands of Six Sigma Black Belts, Green Belts and Champion in Canada and internationally, he is one of Canada’s foremost Six Sigma trainers and practitioners.

Roxane Fast has a unique blend of expertise including project management, financial management and business analysis holding designations as a Project Management Professional (PMP®), Certified Management Accountant (CMA®) and a Registered PRINCE2® Practitioner as well as being a member of the International Institute of Business Analysts (IIBA). She is an experienced project/program manager of large scale business improvement and software development initiatives in a variety of organizations including retail banking, financial services, not-for-profit, government, oil and gas, telecommunications and higher education. Roxane also enjoys sharing the latest project management trends and techniques as an instructor, facilitator, mentor and speaker.

Business Analysis, Lean Six Sigma, Project Management

Roy has taught hundreds of Project Managers, Business Analysts and Six Sigma Green and Black Belts. Roy has tailored training for a variety of organizations in such industry verticals as Health Care, Manufacturing and Technology. Roy brings over 35 years of Management Consulting and private industry experience into the classroom which adds immeasurably to the learning experience he offers to each student. Ruby Lee has served as president and director of Lee Food Microbiologists Inc. and senior food safety specialist of NSF-GFTC since April 2011. She provides consulting and training services in microbiology, HACCP, SQF and BRC. Ruby has served as an approved consultant for the IFS PACsecure Standard since 2014. As chief microbiologist & senior food safety project manager of the NSF-Guelph Food Technology Centre, Ruby provided consulting services via microbiological program assessment, troubleshooting and HACCP program development and validation, provided training services via creating and delivering NSF-GFTC and customized microbiology and HACCP workshops, and provided auditing services via AudiTech Audit and NSF-GFTC/AIBI HACCP Accreditation Audit. Ruby has been a speaker at annual food safety conferences since 2003 organized by Agrifest, Alberta Food Processors Association, Canadian Meat Council, Canadian Research Institute for Food Safety, Fondation Initia, Guelph Food Safety Seminar Series, Manitoba Agriculture Food and Rural Initiatives, Manitoba Food Processors Association, 3M Food Safety, NSF-GFTC Annual Auditor Conference, NSF-GFTC Innovative Breakfast Series, North American Mushroom Conference, Ontario Food Processor Association, Ontario Independent Meat Processors, PAC, Sani Marc Advanced Microbiology Workshop, and Women in Food Industry Management. Ruby completed her MSc in Microbiology, PhD in Food Science and Technology, and was a postdoctoral scientist in animal science at Iowa State University, with a focus on the development of rapid microbial methods. She also studied the mode of action of food-grade phosphates used in meat industry and application of food irradiation in the food industry.

One of the most influential government executives in Canada, Säad most recently was the CEO of the highly successful Pan Am Games in Toronto. He has held the post of Deputy Minister in several key Ontario Government ministries.

Marketing

Sam has 23-plus years' experience in building B2B life-sciences companies and a great passion for helping companies build their businesses strategically. He specializes in developing high-performing sales and marketing strategies, tactics and teams. Sam is also a guest speaker in Schulich ExecEd's Key Account Management and Client Development program. His areas of expertise include shareholder value creation, driving bottom-line results, strategy, corporate brand value creation and customer value creation.

Coaching and Collaboration

Sandra is the principal of Synergy Management Consulting, specializing in leadership coaching, customized training and facilitation services. Sandra is certified in MBTI, BarOn Emotional Intelligence Assessment, Facilitation First Train-the- Trainer, Coaches Training Institute and is training as a psychotherapist. Sandra facilitates in several Schulich ExecEd programs, including the Masters Certificate in Adult Training and Development (MCATD),

Project Management

Sandra Martyn is president of The Martyn Group, a private consulting and training company specializing in project management. Managing her own successful project management business for almost 28 years has provided her with a unique perspective on the challenges experienced in almost all industries, including projects in manufacturing, construction, government, food, health, automotive, financial, transportation, pharmaceutical and biotech, among others. She has a reputation for planning and executing projects and building strong, cohesive teams. Sandra consistently receives the highest ratings from her clients for the value she provides in her courses. Sandra adheres to the framework set out by the Project Management Institute, but her own business experience enables her to make difficult project management concepts seem easy as she delivers her training in clear and understandable terms. She helps program participants avoid common project management mistakes. Her teaching aids and exercises are popular, and the group work sessions are critically important in applying concepts to real life projects.
