Schulich ExecEd’s popular Mini-MBA program is now offered winter, spring and fall

Acquiring top-level business knowledge can be a time-consuming and expensive proposition for people who have already started their careers. For them, the option to pursue a full MBA program often isn’t available. The Schulich Mini-MBA: Essentials of Management was designed to provide an alternative – and it has proved so popular that the program is now offered on multiple dates.

From its initial run, the Schulich Mini-MBA has grown to include three sessions a year in the winter, spring and fall. A fourth session offered for local business people by the Barrie Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Schulich ExecEd will be offered again early in the new year.

One of the reasons for the Schulich Mini-MBA’s popularity is its association with the graduate MBA program offered by the Schulich School of Business at York University. Drawing on the same instructors and content, the Mini-MBA is a certificate program that gives participants the essential components they are looking for to advance their careers, in a format that suits their needs and budget. It also carries valuable continuing education credits for both the HRPA and PMI.

In nine days spread over three months, participants are introduced to subjects such as finance, marketing, leadership, strategy, human resources and negotiations. Five self-paced online components of pre-class material (a total of about 4 hours) are offered, increasing the flexibility that participants have requested. Reaction to the content is consistently enthusiastic, as are the responses about the instructors.

“[The] professors were amazing with great experience and knowledge,” said a recent participant. “Managerial Finance was one of the best courses. I had no prior experience and exposure to Finance and Beppino [Pasquale] made it so interesting. I can now relate and speak the language [and] terminology.”

Another program graduate spoke about the “excellent facilitation! [The instructor] explained complex concepts in an accessible way that is relevant in both a professional and personal context.”
