Toronto World Leadership Forum features Schulich ExecEd speakers

Three representatives of the Schulich ExecEd will participate in the upcoming Toronto World Leadership Forum April 20 to 21 in Mississauga.

Alan Middleton, Schulich ExecEd executive director, will attend as one of the organization’s Leadership Ambassadors, and facilitators Joseph Sherren and Kristen Arnold will be featured speakers at the event at the Hilton Meadowvale. The event also includes guest speaker Mike Reiss, the Emmy Award-winning writer for The Simpsons.

The Toronto World Leadership Forum offers leaders from business, civil society, politics, science and academia the opportunity to exchange views and experiences, to network at the highest global level and share best practices on current challenges related to both leadership and peace.

The forum will also contribute to the strengthening of leaders for the construction of stronger economies to achieve the internationally defined development goals of sustainability and the improvement of quality of life in general.

The speakers provide participants with ideas and tools on how to take advantage of the most effective ways to increase productivity and empowerment across multiple sectors of society. The need to create economies and improve policies geared towards gender equality contributes to the fulfillment of the socio-economic and political rights set out in the UN Development Agenda 2030. Also, the health, safety and well-being of the individual are seen as priority issues, as well as the professional development and their participation in the business sector. Speakers emphasize the importance of building valuable leadership relationships for the achievement of objectives.

Arnold and Sherren are both facilitators in two Schulich ExecEd programs: the Leadership Through Teambuilding and Management 2: The Advanced Managers Course.

Arnold will present a challenging topic to her audience: “Keep moving. Don’t Settle! Leadership Challenges at the United States Coast Guard (USCG)”. As one of the first female graduates of the USCG Academy and the first woman stationed on board a sea-going buoy tender, Kristin learned early on about working with others. In 1990, she became one of the first USCG facilitators and went on to a career as a high stakes meeting facilitator, professional panel moderator and keynote speaker, who has worked with thousands of senior executives, project managers and team leaders in North America.

Joseph Sherren will reveal the insides of “How to build a collaborative culture with self-motivated, engaged employees”. As the dynamic President of Ethos Enterprises Inc., and CEO of Gateway Leadership Inc, with offices in Toronto, Prince Edward Island and Phoenix, he believes that success depends on maintaining a positive attitude, setting goals and working towards them with unbending determination.
