Back-to-Campus event shows alumni how to deal with black swans and more
Posted on February 05, 2018Schulich ExecEd welcomed back its Mini-MBA alumni and others for a Back-to-Campus networking breakfast event at the Executive Learning Centre on Jan. 24. The half-day morning session was a great success with dozens of attendees who took part in an interactive learning session.
Executive Director Alan Middleton, a faculty member in the Schulich School of Business, spoke about “Leading in a VUCA World”, and explained the theory and implications of “black swans” in the business world, and how to cope with volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. Guest speakers Ingo Holzinger and Detlev Zwick, also faculty members at Schulich, engaged the crowd with an interactive session on “Leading in a Turbulent World”. Participants were able to work in teams on a case study about a business disaster that turned into a social media triumph.
Participants also had the opportunity to review the winning projects from one of Schulich’s top program the Schulich Mini MBA: Essentials of Management. Alumni-networking is an integral part of the Schulich experience and we encourage all our past participants to keep connected as lifelong learning never stops.
