Schulich ExecEd-designed event wins RSA Canada a Stevie award

A Schulich ExecEd-designed risk-training program for clients and partners of Royal & Sun Alliance (RSA) Insurance Company of Canada has won a Stevie award at the 2017 International Business Awards.

The program, which was held in October and titled “Fast Forward: Navigating the Future of Risk Management”, was entered by RSA in the “Live Events – Best Brand Event” category and received a Bronze Stevie along with two California companies. The Stevie® is among the most prestigious business awards in the world.

“The judges commented that it was a good initiative to connect with risk managers, with a solid/strong strategy, concept and delivery, including dynamic event elements,” said Merissa King, RSA Senior Marketing Manager – Corporate Marketing & Broker Communication.

Kenneth JullRisk managers from across the country attended the event, held in Toronto. It was facilitated and instructed by leading risk-management adviser and legal counsel, Kenneth Jull, LLP, and futurist keynote speaker Alexander Manu. The seminar was designed to help inspire how risk managers approach their job and to hone their leadership skills.

“RSA Canada is deeply committed to continuing education, and we understand that the knowledge and skills risk managers need to be successful are very complex and diverse,” said Colette Taylor, Vice-President, Specialty Lines at RSA Canada. “We created this seminar, recognizing that risk managers are facing new challenges as a result of rapidly evolving dynamics of business and risk management. Our goal is for the risk managers who participated to leave with a better understanding of global best practices in risk management and with greater confidence as leaders.”

Risk managers participated in engaging sessions grounded in academic fundamentals, hands-on group work with their peers in risk management, and thought-provoking discussion on leadership and influential skills in the context of the dynamics of business and risk management.

“Understanding Risk and identifying how to handle it is now a basic managerial skill in any industry,” said Alan Middleton, Schulich ExecEd Executive Director.

“The seminar was a well thought out, well planned and well executed information filled day, which examined topics of importance to corporations and their Risk Managers in the ‘emerging risks’ space,” said Tanya Diedrick, Director Risk Management at H&R Reit.
